My name is Luis Gerardo Cuellar, and I was born on February 4, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, CA, where I have lived my entire life. I attended Washington Elementary School, Hosler Middle School, as well as Lynwood High School. During my senior year, I was fortunate to earn a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Scholarship, which allowed me to attend the University of Arizona, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from 2012 to 2016.

The day after receiving my degree in 2016, I was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. I completed The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia, followed by  Financial Management School at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. My first assignment was as a Comptroller at Camp Pendleton, CA. In 2018, I accepted a special assignment in Australia, serving as the Comptroller for the Marine Rotational Force – Darwin. Shortly after returning, I took on another special assignment in Singapore in 2019. After my international service, I pursued a Master of Business for Veterans at the University of Southern California, graduating in 2020 while completing my final year of active duty in the Marine Corps.

Today, I work as a Financial Consultant, leveraging my extensive background in finance and leadership. My military service, where I managed multimillion-dollar budgets around the world, instilled in me a strong commitment to excellence, leadership, and fiscal responsibility. In my consulting work, I focus on bringing financial visibility and transparency to businesses, providing strategic direction to help them navigate financial challenges and achieve long-term success.

I also serve currently serve the City of Lynwood as the City Treasurer, using my financial expertise to ensure transparency and accountability in public service. I am passionate about driving economic growth, supporting local businesses, and working toward a brighter future for Lynwood.  I look forward to earning your support for City Council.
